As a social and cultural innovation activities, my special skill is 'connecting the dots'—finding connections in complex information and turning that into a coherent 'story' around the challenges of our time. I am a sociologist of technological change and a long term student and practitioner of Tibetan Buddhism. Hence I have a deep and abiding interest in 'ways of knowing', otherwise called epistemology. In this era of fake news and the dark arts of technological manipulation of 'knowing' and a growing evidence of a deep psychosis in the human population, never has this been more pressing. My professional life has been in the public, university and non government sectors, in the fields of social and technology policy, innovation and strategy. Now, as a 'recovering techno-optimist', I am devoting my energies to working with people in the creative arts to find ways of reaching out to people to find a 'language' that recovers our sense of inter-being with the natural world through the activities of the Wild Mountain Collective, a project of the Blue Mountains Creative Arts Network. Having complete a 3 year retreat in the meditative methods and philosophy of Tibetan Buddhism, now it is time to live their profound truths through my relationships with my family, community, and the world around me.
